Excerpts From The Night Of Tributes Held In Honour Of Late Dr. Hauwa Evelyn Shekarau Yesterday, The 28th Day Of September, 2021
The Nigerian Bar Association Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) in collaboration with FIDA and ICMC organized a night of tributes In honour of the departed former Chairman of the Branch, late Dr. Hauwa Evelyn Shekarau yesterday, the 28th day of September, 2021. The event was held at Ecumenical Center, Abuja.
The event started at exactly 4:00pm with an opening prayer by Pastor Emmanuel Oluwabiyi and the welcome address was delivered by the Chairman of the burial planning committee, Mrs. Victoria Awomolo (SAN).
Reading of late Dr. Hauwa Evelyn Shekarau's biography came immediately after the choir ministration and hymns. Thereafter, there was a brief exhortation by Apostle Paul Odola.
Various organizations and people from different walks of life took out turns to read their tributes. The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Olumide Akpata described the late Dr. Shekarau as a rare gem. The tribute of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), Abuja Chapter was written by the Secretary, Sunday Ibrahim Ameh (SAN) and read by Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN).
Tributes were also received from Abuja, Bwari and Gwagwalada Branches of the Nigerian Bar Association and ICMC. FIDA Nigeria, Abuja Chapter, NBA women forum ABU Zaria class of '91, Nigerian Law School class of '92 and H. E. Shekarau & Co. were not left out.
WOLDI, ECWA Church, POMI, SOKAPU, WIPF, WRAPA IPAS, IWADA, IVLP Alumni, Atyap Community, Mission Support League, FGC Azare Old Students Association, Feminists Womanifesto, Ministry of Women Affairs, Action Aid, FRSC (Special Marshals) and others too numerous to mention were not also left out.
There was also another Choir ministration/hymns and followed by it was a vote of thanks by the representative of NBA Abuja Branch.
Prayers were offered for the family and followed by it was the closing prayer and the event came to an end with hymns and life story.
