Auta Nyada Esq. Sends Goodwill Message To NBA Lagos And Ikeja Branches On The Occasion Of Their Annual Law Dinner 2021

It is with utmost delight that I felicitate and congratulate the Lagos (Premier Bar) and Ikeja (Tiger Branch) Branches  of the NBA. The theme for the Lagos branch dinner for this year is " Proudly Nigerian". This to my mind, is a wake up call for us to depart from the negative stereotypes, flaws and foibles of our Nation  so that we can elicit pride in her strengths and achievements whilst looking inward with renewed vigour to make Nigeria a country we can all be indeed proud of.

My special appreciation  goes first to the Branch Chairmen, other elected officials and the Bar Dinner Committee of both branches, for the sheer diligence in garnering resources to put these auspicious events together in consonace with the age long and sacred tradition of the Profession. 

The importance of Bar Dinners such as these cannot be overemphasized.: amongst others it provides a unique opportunity for us as colleagues to network and enjoy the finest cuisine under a very relaxed atmosphere outside the extremely formal settings of our daily professional calling ; it also affords us the opportunity to strengthen our personal ties and Professional brotherhood.

Towing the thought pattern of the revered Professor Chinua Achebe,  this call to feast is not to save any one from starvation but because it is pertinent to foster the bond and brotherhood amongst  Bar men.
 
As you dine and wine with one another, it is my hope and prayer that you also ponder on the state of "our Judiciary" with the intention  of proferring solutions to the issues that plague us, so that we can truly say that we are the hope of the common man.

I cannot end this good will message without appreciating you all, my dear colleagues whose presence have lent credence to the work of the dinner committee. May your souls be nourished and your bodies too. Bon appètìt.

Former Akwa Ibom Lawmaker Bags One Imprisonment For Giving Police False Information  By Abasiofiok Inyang  A 58 year old former lawmaker and councilor who represented Midim Ward in Abak Local Government Area, Hon. Saviour Hanson Akpan has been sentenced to one year imprison for giving police false information of theft and murder of a three day old baby. Hon.
