MY ROTARY STORY

MY ROTARY STORY
 By: Ndi Aquaisua, Esq.

Ever since I was invited to fellowship with the Rotary Club, precisely Rotary club of Uyo metropolis, District 9142 by the Rotarian President, Comrade Ini Ememobong, Esq., I have never missed any fellowship because missing fellowships is always like throwing treasures into the ocean as you will definitely loose a lot.

Personally, I have had a lot of experiences which I would not hesitate to share because they are extremely phenomenal and breathtaking.

Within the first few weeks of fellowship as an intending member, I had the opportunity of meeting and interacting with new friends which made me realize that Rotarians are very welcoming and very easy to bond with within a short period of time, all thanks to Rotary games.

Rotary values diversity and encourages the inputs of people from all works of life, regardless of their colour, religion, ethnicity, country, age, race, abilities, socioeconomic status, culture, sex, sexual orientation and gender identity; the above are things that are lacking in a lot of social clubs.

Rotary songs are incredibly amazing. Each time they are sang, all my worries diminish within a few seconds; this clearly shows you how lifting the songs are.

The entertainment that comes during each Rotary fellowship is always mouthwatering.

Understanding and having a full grasp of the "Ten ways to destroy my club (Rotary Club)" has helped me to become a better citizen. On the other hand, the Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do can be applied to all spheres of life; I, as an individual, will never take it for granted.

The experience I had during the Rotary sports and fitness session is still evergreen in my mind and I cannot wait to have more of such sessions.

In the course of fellowshipping with Rotary, I discovered that Rotary Club promotes peace, charity, fights diseases, provides clean water, encourages sanitation and hygiene, saves mothers and children, supports education, grows local economies etc. Rotary Club is simply all about service to humanity.

With Rotary club, I see a world where people will unite and take action to create lasting change in our lives, community and across the globe.

In a nutshell, Rotary Club is more than just a family to me.
